- Hospital hygiene
- Molecular biology
- Cell culture
The inactivation of humanpathogenic viruses by chemical disinfectants and/or physical methods is in the main focus of MikroLab GmbH as a basis for the prevention of nosocomial virus infections.
All questions of virus inactivation by chemical-physical methods according to national and international guidelines can be examined in the laboratories (see list of examinations). The model viruses are derived from national and international guidelines and from practical aspects of hospital hygiene. Some important viruses cannot be propagated sufficiently by cell culture techniques. Therefore, surrogate viruses with similar biophysical properties and genomic structures are included in testing chemical disinfectants. Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) for example serves as surrogate for hepatitis C virus and bovine coronavirus as surrogate for SARS-CoV.
